Sustainable innovation
Sustinendi offers workshops and creative sessions which explore the opportunities in energy and resource efficiency, sustainability, business, innovation and design.
The starting point has to be the people and their needs. Most innovations happen at the interface between different disciplines. We would therefore bring together people with backgrounds in innovation, technology, biology, energy, architecture, materials, brand, business and design to contribute to your project. We will work with your team to co-create a sustainable solution and share the knowledge across your business.
We can help you explore ideas, develop concepts, write projects briefs and challenge your business. Most importantly we can help you reduce energy consumption, reduce resource requirements and contribute and low carbon future.
Martin Hönle - founder of Sustinendi - specialized in Innovation Management during his business degree. Later he worked for many years for IDEO - one of the world's leading innovation agencies - exploring topics such as: the future of shopping, service concepts for transportation, interaction and brand experience for white goods, trends in food and cooking, the changing world of photography and show to make mobile telephony simple. Amongst the clients were big brands such as Lufthansa, Orange, Vodafone, Prada, BMW, Mercedes, Tefal, HP and many others.
With our focus on energy and resource efficiency, sustainability, business, innovation and design we can help you to innovate sustainably.

Sustainable futures
With the need to save energy and resources and the emergence of new technologies in the renewable sector, big trends are emerging ...
- the maintenance of biodiversity is a major task to protect wild life and our food supplies
- we are starting to grow materials from organic 'waste'
- market leaders are being re-organised to reduce their CO2 emissions by 50% or more and at the same time to stay ahead of the competition
- our homes will be manage by smart technology and produce more energy than we use
- the internet and smart media will be everywhere and support this transition process
With our know-how and expertise Sustinendi can demonstrate best practice and the key trends towards a sustainable future.

Maudsley Hospital Design Charrette
Sustinendi helped to facilitate a five day Design Charrette with the Maudsley Hospital in South London. A Design Charrette is an intensive, hands-on workshop and it brought together healthcare professionals and managers, patients, people from the local community as well as professionals from different disciplines and backgrounds to explore design options for the Maudsley Hospital.
The Maudsely Hospital was started about 100 years ago and over the decades has developed into a large site containing a number of buildings which are no longer fit for purpose. The goal of the Charrette was to develop and collect all the information needed to develop a master plan for a mental health care centre which responds well to future needs.
The project team ran four days of workshops, drop in sessions, presentations and public meetings. We captured the vision, values, and ideas of the community - with designers sketching and developing mood boards to create alternatives and ideas as fast as they can be generated by almost 100 participants.
During the Charrette process the team built positive enthusiasm and energy for the project and, at the same time, we were responsive to the creativity of the community. The project team succeeded in creating consent and vision for the project whilst collecting all the hard facts needed to develop a master plan.
Sustinendi and our partners can help you to plan and run a Design Charrette for your project.

The workshop at Sense Worldwide
In the workshop we covered the key topics of Sustinendi: food, materials, energy, industry, people, spaces and communities - less energy, less resources - better design, better quality of life. What are the opportunities for innovation and transformation?
For each topic we had one short presentation followed by a question and answer session. Each presentation showcased the innovation and business opportunities arising from energy and resource efficiency as well as design. We heared from a cross section of industry, small and large companies as well as designers.
The workshop took place on the evening and after the presentations was an opportunity for further debate and conversation. The event took place at the Sense Loft in Soho. To enable us to run the event as a workshop we limited the attendance to up to 30 people. The workshop was fully booked.

Design for Life
In October 2009 Designboost hosted the Design for Life event in Malmö and Sustinendi (then THE QUIET RIOT) was one of the key contributors.
It's time to rethink design. To create long time value instead of short time profit. To build the future on generosity instead of greed. We need optimism, new spirit and change. We need Design for Life.
Design for Life is all about how we can create better lives for the many. How we plan, produce, deliver and consume everything from cities, transportation and infrastructure to food, entertainment, products and brands. Together we have a joint responsibility. We can all make a difference.
Design is always about humans - about satisfying needs, solving problems and attracting us towards mew experiences. This implies that great design often is founded on social and cultural perspective. Unfortunately design has partly tunred into a major source of pollution. Just look at everything modish and the hunt for newness. A big part of the industry are focusing one more when we actually need better.
Design for Life is about concern and cooperation. Even a long journey starts with a first step. Doing something is always better than nothing.
